About Wendy John

For over 25 years, I have lived and breathed the digital world of printing and design. During this time, I have gone from illustrating for a daily newspaper to managing the work flow for multiple website storefronts, specializing in business-to-business printing. My former job duties included, but were not limited to: Creating complex variable data workflows, web-to-print store fronts, designing offering memorandums for the commercial and corporate world.(Perfect bound and soft bound books.) Preparing customer art for print, create templates, S.O.P.’s and work flows while maintaining brand integrity. I also served as the in-house graphic designer. I started my career at the newspaper. I designed news ads, front page illustrations and all graphics for three daily editions. Many of these illustrations were picked up for national distribution by The Associated Press and Knight Ridder. I was also responsible for a weekly entertainment magazine. Looking for a challenge, I left the newspaper and was hired as the Art Director for a small print shop, where I was the first person to work on an Indigo Press in the State of Alabama. My duties there were customer service, billing, graphic design and some bindery. I was fortunate enough to win two Silver ADDY Awards for illustration. My job before I was let go due to Covid-19 was as a Product Engineer. I implemented new products which included preparing templates, creating how they would flow through the plant, testing and validation. Then these products were made live to the client and orders would flow in. I am certified by Hewlett Packard to run and maintain the Indigo SmartStream Production Pro Print Server and SmartStream Designer. I am self-motivated; detail and results oriented and have high standards in quality, quantity and getting the job done. My work ethic and strong organizational skills allow me to manage multiple projects at a time, problem solve with confidence and be successful in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. At this point in my career I am looking for a challenge, a position that would utilize my vast knowledge in both print and workflow.
