About Wendy Peterman

I am passionate about applying my knowledge and skills to protect and preserve our natural resources for future generations. As Lands and Natural Resources Manager at Summit County, Utah, I collaborate with internal and external partners for integrated public land management solutions. Previously, as a Forest Soil Scientist, I negotiated Supplemental Project Agreements with NGOs to accomplish restoration projects, established soil program priorities and communicated between the supervisor’s office and districts. I collaborated with local academic institutions and the PNW Ecology Group on research to provide the best available science, technology, and future vision for the role of soils in sustainable forest management and reviewed NEPA analyses for environmental assessments. I have a Ph.D. in Forest Engineering from Oregon State University, a Master of Science in Soil Sciences, and a Post Bacc in Environmental Science.
