About Wendy Schofer

I specialize in helping stressed parents build a healthier, whole family. Parents are stressed now more than ever. Expectations and responsibilities pull us all day long, and then we lay awake at night worried about our kids' weight, growth and mental health. One of the manifestations of the stress that we don’t talk about is how parents judge themselves/perceive their efficacy at raising a healthy family as they keep side-eyeing how the kids are growing. Parents feel ill-equipped, confused, overwhelmed and burdened with their own health journeys, let alone their kids'. I help parents who are worried about their family's weight to create healthier relationships with food and body so that food is a fuel and not a fight. And unlike many physicians, I don't define health as a number, but instead focus on equipping parents with the tools to help the whole family be healthy, at every weight. That is the difference when combining a pediatrician who understands the science behind the numbers, and the coach who speaks the language of compassion, curiosity and connection to help parents to connect with what is most important to them. The Family in Focus signature program is specifically created to invite parents to put down the culturally-driven fight against their bodies, food and kids (ahem, diets that have snuck into our homes as "weight management") and instead find a community of parents who are using and applying the tools of what actually works for lifelong, sustainable healthy habits that the whole family can share. This work matters, and it applies outside of weight. I also work with staff physicians, residents and medical students on using coaching communication within their own professional practice and personal self-discovery so they can create a practice and life that doesn't suck (seriously!).
