Background
About Wesley Lewis
The role of Biosystems Technical Solution Specialist for Nikon Instruments provides me with a wealth of experiences ranging from microscopy techniques, product management, customer support, to content creation and leadership skills. This position also allows me to view the healthcare business from a variety of angles; engaging in research, literature review, and budgeting. Ever since receiving my first little microscope as a Christmas gift growing up, I've been fascinated by the small world that we live in. I would run out to the pond, grab water samples, throw them under my microscope, and watch in awe as all these normally imperceptible creatures came to life under high magnification. Armed with these memories and a drive to learn all that I could, I pursued my Ph.D. at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, joining a lab that focused on studying microscopic cellular appendages called cilia. I followed my graduate studies by joining Nikon Instruments as a Bioscience Sales Specialist. After a brief but successful stint as a sales rep, I sought an opportunity to learn more about the world of microscopy and applied to the Senior Biosystems Applications Manager position within Nikon. After four years as an SBAM, I sought to learn more about software so I applied to the BTSS role. I am part of a team heavily relied on both nationally and internationally. My duties as an BTSS include: • The support, leadership, coaching, and training of field staff across the nation. • Solving complex imaging challenges and troubleshooting advanced imaging systems. • Product evaluation, feedback, and training content generation. • Evaluation and troubleshooting of advanced systems. I believe my experiences and passion for microscopy as well as my drive to teach uniquely position me for success in these duties. Success not only for myself but also the team I am responsible for and for Nikon Instruments as a whole.
