About Wesley Smith

I have 23 years of combined QA/QC inspection and materials testing experience. I first gained experience assisting senior geologists and geotechnical engineers with investigations and large grading projects in Southern California. I then moved to Nova Scotia, Canada and gained additional experience with large commercial and industrial sites, which consisted of inspecting large earthwork projects, pile inspection, materials testing, and offshore geotechnical investigations. I then spent a year in the Four Corners area of the United States, which included New Mexico, Arizona, and Colorado doing QA/QC inspection at power plants and airports. I returned to Nova Scotia in 2014 to continue working on commercial and industrial projects within the Atlantic Provinces. I have experience with borehole logging, percolation tests for shallow and deep systems, and resistivity testing. In addition to geotechnical investigations I have also been involved with testing soil (for bearing capacity and density), observing backdrain installations, geogrid/geotextile placement, pile inspection, reinforcing steel inspection, and concrete testing for shallow and deep foundations.
