About Wesley Verboom

An experienced timber manufacturing professional, I am committed to quality craftmanship, operational safety and performance, and fostering the next generation on skilled tradespeople through training and development. A builder by trade and one time architecture student, I have retained a close connection to the building industry throughout my career. Over the last decade, as part of the Prolam team, I have been dedicated to developing my knowledge and capabilities in timber manufacturing. Leveraging my experience leading successful teams and my commercial acumen to manage Prolam’s production of top-quality engineered timber products for the New Zealand residential and commercial building industry. I have end-to-end knowledge and expertise in timber manufacturing, having honed my skills ‘on the machines’ before moving into logistics and production management. This in-depth, working knowledge ensures I am able to effectively lead and harmonise teams across production areas, and identify and implement ways to streamline our operations to optimise production output. I am passionate about cultivating and sustaining a positive workplace culture and environment that promotes safety, teamwork, continuous improvement, and innovation. My strong work ethic and my ability to adapt and grow through learning and development have been the cornerstones of my progression from hands-on roles to leadership positions. I draw on this personal experience to support and mentor the members of my team, and particularly the younger members of our workforce, to develop the mindset and skills that will set them up for success in work and life. My love of working with timber extends into my personal time. I always have a project on the go and enjoy using my woodworking skills to make everything from sheds to picnic tables and furniture. I am also proud to be a volunteer rural firefighter with Fire and Emergency New Zealand.
