About West Pierce

I am an Architectural Designer with a passion for the tectonic nature of architecture, sustainable urbanism and the creation of inspiring spaces. Skilled in Revit, Lumion, AutoCAD, Adobe Suite Products, and Google Sketchup. I graduated with a B.Arch degree from Mississippi State University. I have always been interested in two things, making and nature. In the quiet rural towns I grew up in I was able to explore, put things together with my hands and study how things worked. Building zip-lines and shelters in the woods, studying animal and plant life, or trying to understand the intricacies of a combustion engine versus a hydrogen fuel cell were all important parts of my upbringing. Constant questioning, a need to make things and a love of drawing led me to the architecture program at Mississippi State University. While there I was able to pursue questions about performance, sustainability and urban design in addition to the architectural design work with which we were tasked. I have been able to focus on sustainable design and making at the Center for Maximum Potential Building Systems (CMPBS) in Austin, TX, with my shop experience at d+p Design Build, as an architectural designer at Mithun and now at Perkins & Will here in Seattle. Most recently I have published research in the realm of sustainable urbanism in regards to Jackson, MS where I completed my education. These experiences have broadened my understanding of architectural design and showed me the effectiveness of a holistic approach.
