About Whitney Allison

My passion for teaching began at a very young age—around 6 or 7 years old. I knew I wanted to be a teacher because my own educators invested time and energy into nurturing my talents, whether in dance or creative writing. I started teaching dance during the summers at a local community center in Las Vegas and quickly discovered my love for working with children. This led me to explore Montessori education, where I gained valuable insights into effective teaching practices. Eventually, I transitioned to public schools as a Teacher Assistant and Long-Term Substitute before accepting my first full-time position as an ELAR teacher. My dedication to learning and my commitment to guiding and mentoring students through literature earned me the title of Teacher of the Year at Harmony School of Fine Arts and Technology in 2017. During my four years at that school, I also served as PLC Lead, Department Chair, and PBIS Campus Coordinator. The experience and mentorship I received were invaluable. However, like many birds that must leave the nest, I decided to spread my wings in 2019 and accepted a position as a Regional Instructional Specialist with the exceptional nonprofit PHALEN Leadership Academies. Currently, I serve two turnaround campuses as one of two Instructional Specialists focused on refining systems, implementing best practices, and coaching teachers and administrators. This has undoubtedly been one of the most enlightening experiences of my career, and I look forward to sharing insights from this journey with all of you.
