About Whittier Strong

At heart, I am a storyteller. It is how I communicate, how I share my values, and how I build community. But storytelling is a holistic experience for me: words, imagery, and typography coming together to make a story as vivid and as easily understood as possible. My goal is to carry my mastery of storytelling into a career in content development.Throughout a career in various aspects of education, I have accrued considerable skills in writing, art, and design. I returned to school to study creative writing, and added an undergraduate minor in studio arts. For the past seven years, I have sharpened my English expertise as a university writing tutor and a teacher of English as a second language. Along the way, I have picked up assignments as a web content writer, which have now superseded teaching and tutoring in my work week, as well as freelance design jobs. I am constantly learning; my current focus is mastering Adobe Creative Cloud and applying those refined skills to my freelance work. And, of course, I have always been telling stories, whether through published creative writing or through multimedia performances of folktales as part of my online teaching.Now I seek to move beyond part-time freelance assignments to a full-time career in content development. It combines my twin loves of writing and design, and lets me tell other people's stories, which is what I hoped to do with my creative-writing studies in the first place. I look forward to the stories I will get to tell in this new career.By the way, if you're wondering about the cover photo, that is the art of heraldry, a medieval visual medium used for personal identification and genealogical purposes. I taught myself the art in 2020 so that I could create heraldic arms for individuals today.
