About Wietse Coppes
The Mondrian Edition Project aims to publish all of the circa 1650 letters and 70 theoretical writings of the Dutch artist Piet Mondrian (1872-1944). It is going to be the first time that all of Mondrian's combined writings will appear. The material will be published in its original languages Dutch, German, French, and English. All of the letters, theoretical writings, and the annotations and other supplementary texts will become available in English translation. The edition will be profusely illustrated, not only with facsimile scans of the original texts, but also with all of the artworks that are mentioned, as well as biographical photographs and other documentation regarding the artist and his artistic circle. The Mondrian Edition Project is a collaboration between the RKD - Netherlands Institute for Art History and the Huygens Institute for the History of the Netherlands.
