About Wilfredo Ortiz

Greetings! I am Wilfredo Ortiz, a dedicated Educator based in Washington, D.C. I'm excited to share some highlights of my professional journey with you: I earned a Bachelor of Arts in Latin American Studies, along with minors in Spanish and Visual Anthropology, from Temple University. And a Master of Science in Education Studies from Johns Hopkins University. My professional career began as a Bilingual Onsite Patient Representative in Philadelphia, where I assisted under-served Latinx and immigrant communities in obtaining Medical Assistance from the state of Pennsylvania. After more than two years in social work, I had the opportunity to serve as a cultural ambassador for the United States and as a foreign Language Auxiliar in Spain. In this role, I taught English and North American culture to local high school students. Upon returning to the United States, I held positions as a Patient Service Representative at Jennersville Hospital and a Customer Service Representative for Big Brothers Big Sisters SEPA, a leading volunteer-supported youth mentoring organization. Eventually, I relocated to Los Angeles and took on roles as a Patient Financial Service Representative for U.S.C. Verdugo Hills Hospital and a Match Support Specialist with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Los Angeles. I am committed to using my diverse background and experiences to inspire and educate the next generation of learners.
