About Will Brown

At the age of 21 I played organized baseball for the last time. After spending almost every moment since I could walk training and committing all of my mind, body, and soul to the sport I knew I wasn't going to be fulfilled by a 9-5. Fast forward a couple of years after traveling and working menial jobs, I made a list of the things I needed from my career. I needed to be competitive, I needed to work with a team of equally competitive and highly driven individuals, and I needed to spend as much time, if not more, working outside the office rather than in it. Then I found motorsports. In 2023 I decided to devote myself entirely to racing. I enrolled at the University of Texas at Arlington where I am currently pursuing a Bachelors of Science in Mechanical Engineering and a minor in German Language. I pursued and began my first internship in racing with Devin at Devine Force Racing which has led me to many opportunities including working on track in GridLife, Porsche Sprint Challenge, Formula Drift, and WRL. In 2024 I've had the amazing opportunity of being a Fly-In Data Acquisition Intern with Sorensen Motorsports in Formula Drift, running two cars competing in both ProSpec and Pro classes. Since arriving at UTA I have also been a highly active member of the Formula SAE racing team where I have assisted both the Suspension and DAQ subsystems and was promoted to the lead position of the DAQ system in my second semester which I have remained in for this season. I hope to continue to work in Data Acquisition and Vehicle Dynamics with the intention to pursue Performance and Race Engineering after college. I offer another personal antidote at the risk of being too personal. I remember a moment very vividly from when I played Tee-Ball at the age of maybe 6 or 7. My coach dismissed the team for a water break, at which time I chose to re-tie my cleats and grab my bat. My coach looked at me puzzled and tried to convince me I should join the team for some water before we continued. I put my helmet on and told him "Coach, I'm not here to drink water, I'm here to play baseball.". I have a burning passion, attention to detail, and a borderline insane unwillingness to settle and I continue to apply this attitude to motorsports nearly 20 years later.
