About Will Conley

I help people understand and improve river resiliency. As an applied fluvial geomorphologist, I connect-the-dots between geology, hydrology, engineering, and ecology. Over the past 30 years, I have designed, implemented, managed, and/or reviewed hundreds of multidisciplinary design, construction, and research projects and programmes related to- natural hazards - ecological services - native species habitats - decision processes I have worked successfully with a wide range of stakeholders including private sector, NGOs, governments at all levels (indigenous, local, state, regional, and federal), and universities. My service and leadership history includes the Board of Directors of River Restoration Northwest (including Past-President), New Zealand Rivers Group Management Committee, professional mentoring, and 20 years as an emergency responder (highest ICS qualification: Task Force Leader). With over 25 years of nature-based solutions experience, I am greatly encouraged by rising global interest in resilient catchment management practices.
