About Will Corn

With five years of dedicated experience at Brenham High School, I have had the privilege of educating young minds in AP World History and AVID alongside previous roles in AP European History, Academic World History, and Advanced World Geography. My educational approach is anchored in rigor, structure, and a deep commitment to literacy, believing firmly in the transformative power of education to create critical thinkers who can achieve in an ever-evolving world. My pedagogical preference for social studies is a structured format of lecture and independent reading paired with discussion board writing, culminating in Socratic seminars, a testament to my belief in engaging, formative assessments that foster literacy and facilitate high-level student collaboration. This instructional method not only challenges students intellectually but also promotes a culture of inquiry and dialogue essential for developing critical thinking skills. Beyond classroom instruction, I have contributed to the broader school community as an advisor for both the AP History Club and the AVID Club. These roles have built my experience in financial management and extracurricular program development. My leadership extends to serving on the Site Leadership Team/Guiding Coalition for four years and currently taking on the responsibilities of the UIL Academic Coordinator. In transitioning to administration, my focus sharpens on enhancing instructional practices through active engagement and the strategic application of scaffolded skills, enabling students to synthesize and apply knowledge effectively. An Aggie at heart, I fully believe in the cultivation of a vibrant school culture, fueled by traditions and extracurricular engagement. In discipline and classroom management, I strongly believe in and uphold the principles of clear, consistent, and equitable discipline policies. My skills include mentoring new teachers, fostering effective parent communication, curriculum innovation, and nurturing school-community partnerships. Additionally, my expertise in facilitating teacher collaboration is a cornerstone of my professional identity. With the successful completion of the 268 and 368 Principal as Instructional Leader exams, I will graduate and receive my certification on May 10th, 2024, and look forward to taking on an administrative role at a school committed to excellence.
