About Will Holden

Will has worked in ecological consultancy for over 18 years and is currently an Associate Director at RSK Biocensus. His role is primarily involved within the field of ecological surveys and environmental impact assessment (EIA) as well as the management of small, medium- and large-sized ecological and environmental assessment projects and the mentoring of junior staff. He has experience of working in the private sector for transport, energy and housing and in the public sector for local councils, charities and statutory bodies. He has particular experience managing ecological projects and environmental surveys for large scale projects including pipelines, cable routes and airports. His skills include aquatic invertebrate surveys and biological water quality monitoring, protected species surveys, European protected species (EPS) licence applications, ecological impact assessment (EcIA) and mitigation implementation. His survey experience covers phase 1 habitat surveys, river corridor surveys and protected species such as white-clawed crayfish, great crested newts, otters, badgers, bats, water voles, dormice and reptiles. He is responsible for providing tool box talks to contractors, clients and junior staff, promoting ecological awareness, understanding and knowledge. He also provides CPD training for RSK employees on Dormouse survey skills and aquatic invertebrate monitoring. He currently holds licences for great crested newts, dormouse, white-clawed crayfish and lesser silver water beetle. He is a Registered Consultant for the Great Crested Newt Low Impact Class Licence and holds a licence for the displacement of Water Voles in England.
