About Will Sharpe

With a career focus in public and administrative law, I advise my clients on government decision-making, administrative law, and statutory interpretation, as well as representing them in judicial review litigation and merits review proceedings. Throughout my career, I have worked as an in-house legal advisor to Commonwealth government agencies and served as an external advisor to many of the large Commonwealth agencies and regulatory bodies. I also regularly advise non-government clients on issues concerning government decisions and regulation. I'm known for delivering clear advice, practical solutions, and strong representation. My career highlights include: • Representing the Department of Immigration and Border Protection in a wide variety of matters before the Administrative Appeals Tribunal, the Federal Circuit Court, the Federal Court, and the High Court. • Acting in proceedings that challenged a decision under the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act (Cth) relating to coal seam gas mining in South East Queensland. • Preparing an independent report to Government on the effectiveness of the legislative framework surrounding the Northern Territory Emergency Response and the Stronger Futures policy. • Preparing legislative instruments that give effect to service level guarantees in the telecommunications industry.
