About Will Whiting

Will Whiting is a dynamic fundraiser and serves as Chief Development Officer at the University of Texas at Austin. Will manages a top-producing team responsible for raising $80M+ annually for the McCombs School of Business. In addition to managing a large Development and External Relations team, Will also manages an international portfolio of prospects from around the United States and in London, Paris and Seoul who support the wider University. Will works closely with campus leadership to generate resources for students, faculty, programs, and facilities. Will is inspired by the generosity of others and the impact of transformational gifts, and he strives daily to make those gifts of a lifetime occur. This is Will's second tour of duty at Texas Development. Before rejoining Texas, Will served as the Associate Vice Chancellor for Development at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. He has also served the University of Tennessee Foundation and the University of Arkansas in various capacities. In his higher education career, Will has guided large teams responsible for principal and presidential gifts, individual and corporate giving, planned giving and compliance, donor experience, and regional development. His leadership consistently results in increased production and donor engagement. Outside of higher education, Will has served as the Vice President for Public Affairs and Advocacy at the Little Rock Regional Chamber of Commerce and positions at the William J. Clinton Foundation where he helped launch the Alliance for a Healthier Generation and advanced dignitaries. Will’s extensive experience in fundraising, government affairs and external relations has allowed him to develop the skills needed to manage complex relationships. As a former registered lobbyist, Will has worked closely with legislators on both sides to advance public policy in education, healthcare, economic development and public safety. Will and his husband Matt love living in Austin. They are the proud Dads to two very special rescue pups, Delta Dawn and Ozark. Will holds undergraduate and graduate degrees from the University of Arkansas System.
