About William Armstrong

I have grown up in Ashburton all my life. I attended Fairton School (primary) from 2011 to 2016, before attending Ashburton Intermediate from 2017 to 2018. I now currently attend Ashburton College (2019 to present) where I am soon to complete NCEA Level 3. Since I was old enough to be employed I have been. I started my first job in February of 2019, at the age of 12. This was at Goods Saddlery, a one man, local upholstery business. At the start I was only working 2 hours a week, this helped me to understand and feel comfortable within a working environment. The job entailed general duties such as sweeping, doing the dishes etc and also included minor upholstery work, such as cutting ropes and patches. During the school summer holidays the duties increased as well as the hours. The hours were often around 9am to 4pm, 2-3 days a week. The increase in these hours is likely where I gained my work ethic. I was however made redundant from this job in 2020. My second job, was a after school position at Ruralco. This job consisted of 2 hours every day after school. The duties within the job included: heavy lifting, sweeping and other tasks handed to me. After I had gained experience within the business I was trained to also help with customer service. This included: using a POS system, helping with customers and their needs… (not finished
