About William Atkinson

I am a dedicated Student Affairs professional closing in on a decade of experience in fostering student success through community building, strategic systems development, and departmental leadership. With a BA in Psychology, an MS in Education, and an MBA, I bring a comprehensive approach to creating supportive environments that empower students to thrive. Most of my career has been spent in NYC, where I honed my skills in dynamic and diverse settings. As of March 2024, I’ve relocated to Portland, OR, bringing my passion for student success to a new community. Currently, I am also pursuing my EdD to further enhance my ability to serve students and drive meaningful change in higher education. I am highly skilled in Excel, which I use for data analysis and forecasting, and I have successfully implemented StarRez on two different campuses. My leadership experience includes guiding a department through transitions, often navigating through ambiguity. I have hired, trained, and supervised undergraduate RAs and office workers, graduate students, and employees at the master's and doctoral levels. I am committed to ensuring that both my team and the students we serve have the resources and opportunities needed to succeed.
