About William Barker

Experienced education and operations professional with a career shaped by creativity, service, and mission-driven work. I began my career in media production, where I learned the power of storytelling, collaboration, and adaptability. Transitioning into higher education gave me the opportunity to blend those creative instincts with operational leadership; managing academic programs, faculty support, and large-scale events at a top-tier media school. At UVA, I’ve continued to grow as an administrative leader, driving process improvements, recruitment operations, and customer-focused service for clinical faculty and staff. Supporting people and building systems that help them thrive has always been at the core of my work. Whether managing complex scheduling for healthcare providers or creating academic experiences for emerging filmmakers, I’m passionate about creating environments where teams can work seamlessly and students, faculty, and staff are set up for success.
