About William Batt

William is an international macro- and micro-economist and consultant, with 30 years of experience advising governments, international institutions, and corporate clients. Since joining Indecon, William has provided economic advice, typically within complex stakeholder contexts, to central government departments and agencies, commercial and non-commercial state bodies, further and higher education institutions and agencies, local authorities, national regulatory and competition agencies, international organisations including the European Commission and United Nations, and private sector PLCs and multi-national corporations. The Indecon group advises clients in over 80 countries. William has particular expertise and experience in the following areas:(a) Provision of public policy and strategy advice to government departments, state agencies, competition and regulatory agencies, international institutions, and multi-national corporations.(b) Investment Appraisal, including application of Cost-Benefit Analysis and other techniques to appraisal of projects/programmes across a wide range of sectors.(c) Policy, Programme and Project Evaluation, incl. Aviation, Rail and Road Transport, Communications, Education and Skills, Labour Market Supports, Enterprise Supports, Energy, Marine, Agriculture, and Health & Social Care.(d) Applying economic tools to corporate strategy advice.(e) Economic regulation, including in aviation and utilities sectors.(f) Competition analysis of markets and sectors, including aviation and other transport sectors, utilities, financial and professional services.(g) Economic Impact Assessment - sectoral and organisational.(h) Regulatory impact assessment.(i) Macro-economic advice and forecasting.(j) Economic development planning.(k) Extensive experience in coordinating and managing complex stakeholder engagements in the context of policy reviews, strategic planning, evaluation, regulatory impact assessment, governance reviews, and competition and regulatory assessments. In his early career, following his postgraduate studies at Cambridge University, William worked as international macro-economist with Oxford Economics, where he advised governments, major corporations and international organisations in Europe and globally. He previously worked with Cambridge Econometrics and with J&E Davy Stockbrokers.
