Career Senior Noncommissioned Officer with 21 years of service as a Cavalry Scout in the U.S. Army. Leadership experience spans 18 of those years; culminating in selection as the Headquarters First Sergeant over more senior peers. Expert at identifying, distributing and balancing workload and tasks among Soldiers in accordance with standard operating procedures, skill level, and occupational specialty. Six years’ experience of maintaining unit regulations, field manuals, reference materials, and written orders from commanders. As the First Sergeant of a 187 Soldier unit, was the unit Commanders representative to the Soldiers and maintained expert knowledge of policies and regulations in order to answer Soldiers questions and deal with routine matters at the lowest level. Ensured unit functioned as an efficient team through personal mentorship, hands on leadership, and the ability to find compromise that benefited the Commanders intent and accomplished the mission. Routinely handled simple, informal complaints of Soldiers on a daily basis. Possessed the experience to recognize when more serious problems required outside assistance or required formal action by the Commander. Responsible for the day to day operations, accountability, and discipline of Soldiers for the units Commander.
