Retired from federal government career in CIA, Commerce Department, State Department and National Intelligence Council. Consultant to US government agencies including ODNI. Contributor to Korea Times, VOA, RFA and other mass media. Long time adjunct professor of Asian economic issues at Georgetown University, School of Foreign Service; University of Maryland Global Campus; George Washington University, Elliot School of Foreign Affairs; George Mason University, School of Public Policy. M.A. and Ph.D. coursework in economics and Chinese studies at Washington University, St Louis. BA with Honors in International Studies at Rhodes College, Memphis TN. Lived and worked in Korea for more than 20 years and has many extended visits to China, Hong Kong, and Japan. Major associations include Trinity Presbyterian Church, Herndon; Institute for Corean American Studies; National Committee for North Korea; and CSIS and GW North Korea working groups. Lives with wife, Helen, in Herndon, Virginia and has four adult children.
