Background
About William Cavanaugh
I am a recent MBA graduate with a bachelor's in economics. I view the MBA as a set of tools to aid in creatively approaching a huge range of business decisions. The most valuable aspect of my economics education is that it has set the foundation for me to objectively observe nuances between correlation and causation, as well as identify the likely contributors and level of contribution to the actual result (that and of course assigning a value to something that may typically go unquantified, even in 2022). More recently I have experimented with the value of setting and continually refining short-term benchmarks. My past experience is in warehouse fulfillment (food distribution), catering, construction, and county-level human services (juvenile detention officer). I am accustomed to performing high-quality work on a rigorous timed standard. I identify as an introvert (INFP), but consider my most valuable skill set to be in communication. I have the ability to deliver concise, clear, messages of varying complexity and intensity to a group or individuals. I aim to do so with subtle and intentional timing and frequency. I can create engagement with many different types of people, and am committed to improving this ability for life. I prefer to work for an entity that has the necessary culture in place to take decisive action to progress through change. I thrive in, if not prefer situations that challenge me, so long as there is a mechanism for compensating me for the toll taken, time spent, and flexibility lost while performing the work. I can find personal growth in mundane situations, but prefer my growth to be rapid and obvious is possible. I have taken decisive action this year by investing heavily in personal wellness, both financially and with my time. I am seeing clear results. My wife and the mother of our two young children died last year, bringing me to the urgent realization that I require more flexibility and predictability in my schedule. I believe remote work would be ideal for me, as I have family business to oversee daily. In short, by fall I would like a position where I can get my kids on and off the bus. If I can be at home during the day to take care of things and not be inundated by unnecessary distractions, that would be way better! I am currently very service-oriented, but am getting better at setting boundaries, which is better for everyone involved in the long run. I am looking for an opportunity to become more business results-oriented this year. I can contribute to giving your team an edge this year.
