WILLIAM A. DIXON Lead, follow or get out of the way is the mantra that influences Mr. William A. Dixon’s personal and professional life. Mr. Dixon tenure with Baltimore City Public Schools began more than 10 years ago. He joined the Govans family in August as the Program Support Teacher for the ED program; and from his first day until June 2009, Mr. Dixon made significant contributions to the faculty, staff and students. In the 2004 -2005 school year, Mr. Dixon served on a Baltimore City Public School task force to develop and implement a city-wide program for students with special needs. As a result of his contributions, BCPSS has several new PRIDE (promoting respect integrity discipline and excellence) Programs for students with Emotional Disabilities in city schools. In January 2011, Mr. Dixon became a member of the Cross Country Elementary Middle School staff. He began as the Staff Support Assistant for students with behavior and emotional challenges. Currently, he is Dean of Students significantly contributing to student success. Mr. Dixon served as member of Cross Country Administrative Council and Instructional Leadership Team, Chairman of the Climate Committee, Co-Chair of Special Events Committee, member of the Fundraising Committee, and member of the School Improvement Team. “Dixon”, as he is affectionately known by his colleagues was born in Poughkeepsie, NY. He received his education through the New York Public School System. He continued his formal education in Baltimore, MD and became a Morgan State University Bear in 1991. He went on to complete his education at Towson University in May In December 2009, Mr. Dixon earned his Master’s of Education in Leadership: Administration and Supervision from Notre Dame University of Maryland in Baltimore.
