About William E. Anastasio
In July, 1984 William began his law enforcement career as a police officer with the Roswell Police Department, in Roswell, Georgia. William spent the next two and a half years in Uniform Patrol as an energetic, highly productive police officer. In March 1987 William was promoted to Detective and over the next sixteen years worked every facet of criminal investigations, from Juvenile Case, Burglary, White Collar Crimes, Assaults, Robbery, Sex Crimes, and Homicide. William has been the lead investigator on several high profile cases resulting in appearances on Court TV, Snapped, and Mainstreet Mysteries. He has also served on several multi-agency task forces. In 2001 William was named Detective of the Year by Fulton County District Attorney, Paul Howard. In November 2002 William became a P.O.S.T. certified Instructor. Over the following years, William developed into a Specialized Instructor in the areas of Defensive Tactics, Health & Wellness, Driving, Crisis Intervention, Domestic Violence, and Elder Abuse. In March 2003 William was promoted to Sergeant and over the following seven years, he supervised Patrol, Narcotics, Traffic Enforcement Unit, and the C.I.D. In July 2010 William was promoted to Lieutenant and became the Assistant Watch Commander to a patrol shift. A year later, he was appointed the Deputy Commander of the Criminal Investigation Division where he is was assigned for the next five years. In July 2015 William was promoted to Captain and became the manager of the Support Services Division. On July 1, 2017 William joined the cadre of professional instructors at GPSTC as a Crisis Intervention Team Instructor/Coordinator. William is amongst a team of eight tasked to bring the C.I.T. Training to every part of the State of Georgia On August 10, 2020 William was sworn in as the Chief of Police for the City of Baldwin, Georgia. Thus begins a very short chapter. William has retired from law enforcement and ready for the next adventure that life has to offer.
