About William Edwards

As Georgia Power’s community and economic development manager in the East Region, Mr. Edwards supports local communities through leadership development, strategic planning, existing industry retention and expansions, and with new companies considering an expansion or relocation to the area. He works with development authorities, chambers, convention and visitors bureaus and local governments throughout the region. William began his career at Georgia Power in 1984 as a Sales Engineer in the Marketing department, later serving as Sales Supervisor. He joined the Economic Development team in1995 as a regional economic development representative before accepting the position as Waynesboro Area Manager. He returned to Community & Economic Development in 2009, working in the East Region of the state. William is a member of the Georgia Economic Developers Association, serves on the local Regional Commission’s board of directors, and works with the Georgia Chamber of Commerce’s Red Carpet Tour at the Masters Golf Tournament in Augusta. He has served on the boards of local chambers of commerce, community and cultural organizations and development authorities, and he is a member of the Central Savannah River Area Unified Development Council. William also has a broad knowledge of the company’s Plant Vogtle expansion project. William holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Georgia Tech.
