About William Frey

I love the challenge (and satisfaction!) of finding effective solutions to technical problems of all types. Throughout my career, I've worked in composites manufacturing process development for both small scale high tech projects (space hardware and fighter aircraft components) and large scale commodities, technology transfer, international collaboration, process development, and data analytics. My specialty is pursuing the never-ending goal of fiber placement process perfection.Through black belt training and post-graduate studies, I bring lean 6S sensibilities, data analytics skills, root cause analysis, and corrective action planning.I've worked in hand-lay and automated fiber placement of graphite-reinforced epoxy and BMI resins, pultrusion of glass-reinforced polyesters, vinylesters, and phenolics, and injection molding thermoplastics. I've developed sampling plans for incoming vendor-supplied components and tens of thousands of production commodities, to maximize efficiency and minimizing labor. I'm well-versed in ANSI Z1.4, zero sampling plans, AS9100, ISO 9001, and have secured registration to API Q1. I've also provided expert testimony in legal proceedings. For fun, I enjoy archeology, history, hearing live music, and going on backyard explorations through my telescope.I enjoy discovery of all kinds, whether on the shop floor, workshop, or back roads of Texas and the world.
