Founder and President of MedChem Discovery Consulting, LLC. Providing consulting on medicinal chemistry and drug discovery. Serving on Scientific Advisory Boards and Editorial Boards, and active in the American Chemical Society Division of Medicinal Chemistry. Co-Organizer for annual Drew University Residential School on Medicinal Chemistry. Perspectives Editor of the Journal of Medicinal Chemistry. Experienced and accomplished Medicinal Chemist, Research Director and Project Manager with a record of success in over three decades of research in industry (Merck Research Laboratories, Schering-Plough Research Institute). Provided leadership to research groups that advanced 20 drug candidates into preclinical development and 11 into clinical studies. Contributed to medicinal chemistry programs that have led to marketed drugs (Vasotec™, Prinivil™), and directed programs that contributed drug candidates that have entered advanced clinical trials, including vorapaxar (Zontivity™ - approved) and MK8931 (BACE1 inhibitor - Phase 3). Experience in leading, or supporting, early development teams and licensing teams. Accomplishments documented by over 200 publications and over 85 US patents. Strong communication and team-building skills. Broad contributions to medicinal chemistry and the medicinal chemistry community that have been recognized by local and national awards. Specialties: Past focus on drug discovery programs in the cardiovascular/metabolic and CNS therapy areas. Additional experience in infectious diseases and inflammation programs.
