About William Grogan

On December 17, 2008, I was hired as the 1st Police Chief for the newly created Dunwoody Police Department. My marching orders were to hire, train, and equip the entire police department by April 1, 2009. After hiring key members of the senior staff, we worked tirelessly for the next 3 months and achieved our goal. We hired 40 sworn officers and 8 civilians. The Dunwoody Police Department began providing police services to the citizens of Dunwoody on April 1, 2009. Prior to my current employment, I served over 27 years with the Marietta Police Department where I achieved the rank of Deputy Chief of Police. I currently serve on the following committees or boards: Georgia Association of Chiefs of Police - Alarm Mangement Committee International Association of Chiefs of Police - Civil Rights Committee Joint Terrorism Task Force - Executive Board Law Enforcement Torch Run - State Director Georgia International Law Enforcement Exchange - Board Member I welcome all opportunities to grow as a leader, learn more about my profession and learn how I can better serve the good citizens of Dunwoody and those I work with at the Dunwoody Police Department.
