I am an accomplished protein biochemist, structural biologist, and cell biologist with over 20 years of laboratory research experience in high-throughput recombinant membrane protein expression, protein design, protein purification, protein crystallization, and structure determination. I specialize in membrane channel, transporter, and receptor proteins, but I have worked with most types of proteins. I have in depth experience in a wide variety of biochemical and biophysical assays as well as cellular imaging and immunochemical techniques. Specialties: Membrane protein biochemistry and biophysics, protein expression (mammalian, yeast, baculovirus, bacteria), protein purification (HPLC, FPLC, SEC, affinity, SEC, IEX, RPC, TLC), biophysical analysis (HPLC, DLS, MALDI-TOF MS, DSC, SPR, EDXA), molecular biology, assay development, protein crystallization techniques, X-ray diffraction data collection and structure determination, molecular modeling. I am a team builder, leader, and mentor. I have significant experience in laboratory design, construction, and operation. I have a high level of proficiency with laboratory equipment and instrumentation operation as well as equipment selection, purchasing, set-up, training, and operations. Prior responsibilities include finance, budgeting, and grant writing. I have personnel management experience in a large academic laboratory (~30 people) environment. I have excellent communication skills including communicating across organizational boundaries. I am comfortable working with highly diverse people and groups. I have experience working with pharmaceutical, biotech companies, a wide variety of academic institutions and government organizations.
