About William Herrmann

I am a Grand Valley State University alum, majored in Computer Science and Mathematics. Formerly a.NET full stack developer with Radley Corporation as a Junior Developer. Now a.NET full stack developer with FreedomDev as a Senior / Lead developer (in role, not in title). In my job, I support many clients with varying needs, anywhere from ground-up app development, modernizing a legacy system, supplementing a current system, or taking over a project from another team. I am able to take on challenging projects and tackling them head on to delight my clients. I sometimes interface with clients, especially when there are complex technical issues to be solved, but frequently work with a Project Manager to gather requirements, create wireframes, build estimates, and break out features. A foot view of my go-to tech stack- C# Server-side applications / services - Angular / jQuery Web applications - Flutter Mobile applications - MS SQL Server Databases - Azure Hosting and Services Although this is my bread and butter tech-stack, I am in no way pigeonholed in this stack. In order to support our clients, my most valuable skill is being able to use my experience to find my way through any tech-stack required of me. I am frequently hopping in and out of PHP web applications, swift iOS mobile development, PostgreSQL/Advantage Database Server/MySQL Databases, etc. and have consistently gone above and beyond no matter the obstacles. I also am the lead developer on our "default" tech stack - which is comprised of a.NET Core MVC web application template, a SPA.NET Core Angular web application template, an Azure Functions project template, an automated testing framework, a database access layer, multiple version-controlled libraries, and a set of standard database functions, procedures, and tables. All changes go through PR, which require my review, and I manage all new versions of our foundation through a private NuGet feed. In addition, I spend a considerable amount of time supporting our team by always being a fountain of knowledge regarding tech, considering best practices for our team, and always making suggestions to better our company as a whole. Outside of work, I love to keep up with tech. I frequently listen to tech podcasts like TWiT, am part of the tech community on twitter, read articles on the web, etc. Software development is my passion. If there is a puzzle that needs to be solved, then I am there ready to take on that challenge.
