About William Holcomb

William E. Holcomb, MD and his staff welcome you to EyeCare Madison, a dedicated laser vision correction center located in Madison, Alabama. Dr. Holcomb is a board certified ophthalmic surgeon. He obtained his B.A. at the University of Mississippi, graduating summa cum laude. He then completed his medical school training at the University of Alabama, School of Medicine in Birmingham, Alabama, gaining membership in the AOA medical honor society and graduating cum laude. After a one year medical internship at Carraway Methodist Medical Center, he completed a three year ophthalmic residency at the Eye Foundation Hospital in Birmingham, where he served as Chief Resident. He was certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology in 1991, the same year in which he began performing refractive surgery. He established a cataract and refractive surgery practice in Cullman in 1994 and opened Eyecare Madison in After beginning RK in 1991, Dr. Holcomb moved on to PRK with the excimer laser at Carraway in 1997, then at the Eye Foundation Hospital in 1998. He underwent extensive LASIK training at Emory Vision Center in Atlanta, Georgia, performing his first LASIK cases there in During his career he has performed thousands of refractive procedures.
