About William Housley

I’ll be the first person to tell you that I don’t have a particularly outgoing personality. However, that doesn’t mean I don’t enjoy working with people. In my job as a custodial Building Supervisor, I have the chance to work with a small, close team of custodians. My favorite part of my job is when I get to work alongside them one on one, on the simple tasks, and have good conversations. Those conversations remind me of many long hours spent with my family, shooting the breeze and singing along to the radio while we cleaned the house or weeded the garden. I almost equally love the kind of custodial work that we get to do. There’s something very satisfying about entering a building and leaving it a little later with less dirt on the floor, less dust on the shelves, and fewer smudges on the glass. It’s the same sort of satisfaction an artist might get from leaving a canvas with a beautiful painting or a vinyl record with an ethereal melody. It’s the satisfaction that comes from making the world a better place, a little bit at a time.
