About William Hutson

I am a first year MD-PhD Student interested in psychiatric and social epidemiology, dedicated to advancing health equity for marginalized communities. My background in biology, public health, and the social sciences equips me with a comprehensive perspective on the intersections of clinical care and research, particularly for improving mental and behavioral health outcomes. My expertise lies in applying rigorous epidemiological methods with a health equity focus to investigate risk factors, outcomes, and interventions related to substance use and other mental and behavioral health outcomes. My work has contributed to multiple peer-reviewed publications. In my current role, I support the design, evaluation, and enhancement of a mobile health (mHealth) intervention that complements treatment for individuals in substance use recovery. I also lead analyses on trends in substance use-related content on social media, providing insights into public health communication and the digital landscape's influence on behavioral health.
