About William Lahay

I’m the Infrastructure Lead for the Calgary Catholic School District, a datacenter administrator with a focus on “what’s next”. In this role I lead the company’s data center team focusing on servers, storage, virtualization, and cloud, overseeing a team of talented professionals and managing the annual IT technology recommendations. Our most exciting work to date was migrating an entire, outdated data center, to a new not yet proven hyper-converged platform (Nutanix). Not only did we have fun discovering the unknown, but also we found it rewarding to see the results and work with the vendor to provide feedback and recommendations. As an outcome of this project, I was invited to sit on the Board of Advisors at Nutanix. Before joining the Calgary Catholic School District, I worked in the very fast paced environment of oil and gas - and was lucky enough to work with some incredible talent. I’m truly passionate about my work and always eager to find the right solution for the right price. While I enjoy all aspects of my job, I think my favorite stage of a project is working with the business unit leaders to understand his or her business objectives. As we go through that collaborative process, the ideas start to flow and that’s always the fun part.
