About William Lem

I have over 25 years of overall experience in the instrumentation design and drafting group on oil refineries, petrochemical plants, waste water treatment plants, gas processing plants, mining, cyclotron, and facility revamp/modernizations. As a drafter, I have experience in manual drafting and computer aided drafting (CAD) using software like AutoCAD, MicroStation, SmartPlant 3D and Smartplant Instrumentation (INtools). In addition, I have provided assistance to drafting coordinator in setting up CAD standards for the Instrumentation and Control sections. My experience encompass drafting the following types of drawings: P & ID's, piping isometrics, level sketches, wiring diagrams, control panel layouts, lighting and electrical power location plans, instrumentation location plans, motor control schematics, single line diagrams, riser diagrams, loop diagrams. As a I&C designer, I have designed control panels from a blank AutoCAD screen to issuing drawings for construction, then carrying out factory acceptance test on the control panels at the panel shop. During front-end engineering phase of the projects, I assisted in developing estimate in quantities of cable lengths and panels, planning fibre optic and instrument cable routing, and identifying panel locations in E&I rooms. During the detailed engineering phase, I have assisted in 3D modelling, creating and issuing drawings mentioned above, and squad checking vendor documents. During the construction phase, I have participated in loop checks, marking up as-built drawings, and answering request for information from field/site personnel. During project close out, I have been involved in as-building field marked up drawings and archiving documents. As a Smartplant Instrumentation (SPI)/ InTools Superuser, I have been a domain administrator on a couple of projects. My tasks involve trouble shooting software issues brought up by users, training new team members assigned to the project, and being a liaison with the client SPI administrator.
