I have been working in the technology industry for over 40 years. Starting out as an Aviation Electronics Technician, in the Navy working on the flight deck as a plane captain and AT troubleshooter. After college I spent five Years as a Customer Engineer with NCR as an EDP Field Engineer supporting the entire Data Center in their Large Systems Group. In 1984 I was hired by Hewlett Packard as Customer Engineer supporting the in the Federal Triangle in Washington DC. I moved through several positions ranging from managing assigned accounts to implementing some of the first networks for the federal government I worked for the response center performing remote support for the and networking products and earned my Novell CNE and Microsoft MCSE certifications. For the last 10 years I worked at HP I was a fielded Solution Architect initially on the Backup and Recovery team supporting the library and backup software solutions and later in the Solution Partners Organization supporting and training HP’s Value Added Resellers. My final assignment prior to taking early retirement was supporting the federal “primes” advocating HP storage to the major federal integrators. After "retiring" from HP I took a position with Sepaton (no tapes spelled backwards) crafting solutions for large backup environments. I am trained on IBM’s TSM, Symantec’s NetBackup and HP’s Data Protector. I worked for TotalTec a VAR in the Mid-Atlantic integrating solutions from HP NetApp and Cisco. Starting in August of 2011 I worked for QLogic evangelizing solutions with their fiber channel products as well as converged networking interfaces Throughout my career I have designed, installed and supported all of the data center components, servers, peripherals, and networking as well as familiarity with power and cooling.
