About William McCarty
I'm a Game Programmer & Designer, I was hired as a Developer for a mobile gaming startup, LG Dev Shop, at the start of their development of Darblez. After finishing Darblez at LG Dev Shop I soon got hired at Galxyz as a Game Developer. At Galxyz I joined the team to develop Blue Apprentice. At both of these I very quickly became a crucial part of the team, taking on several roles and learning how to do them well. Before working there I earned a M.S. Degree in Games and Playable Media at UC Santa Cruz and received my B.S. in Computer Science from San Jose State University. Throughout my studies I developed a total of ten games, four of which contained my own designs (Tremble, Master Smasher, Robot Bouncers, and Blaster Pong). I also surpassed my peers in my coding abilities and started learning about several different game engines, such as Unreal Development Kit, Unity, GameMaker, and Irrlicht. As an undergrad, I also joined the Game Development Club so I could start working on group collaborated games, which I managed to do. At LG Dev Shop, I worked on Darblez, a battle pool style mobile game. Following Darblez I worked on Blue apprentice, a 3D educational science adventure game, at Galxyz. At both of these companies I worked on a team of up to 20 consisting of developers, artists, producers and game designers. These games have given me insight on what it’s like to develop games in the industry today, and allowed me to experiment with new ideas while getting guidance from my colleagues. Working on these allowed me to learn even more about what it means to develop games, and as a result have become even more experienced and well-rounded as a game developer. The most significant characteristic I possess is my enthusiasm for games. It’s this passion that drives me to seek knowledge and to create new innovative games.
