About William Miles

As Energy Transition Lead my role is bring together all of AECOM’s talent, enthusiasm and expertise to solve and deliver our client’s energy transition goals. Our teams bring innovation and deep technical knowledge across a suite of advisory, design and environmental service lines grounded in our Sustainable Legacies strategy, Client Promise and Reconciliation Action Plan. As part of this role I have a key focus on client and market engagement and am excited about continuing as AECOM’s Transgrid’s Client Account Manager. My technical background is in Environmental Impact Assessment and Statutory Planning. I am a Technical Director at AECOM, a Certified Environmental Practitioner with Impact Assessment Specialism (CEnvP IA) and a NSW Registered Environmental Assessment Practitioner (REAP). My primary focus has been on the successful delivery of development consents, impact assessments and planning approvals, however I have been regularly involved throughout the project lifecycle from feasibility though to operation. This work has been primarily on energy and industry projects including offshore wind, onshore wind, energy storage, transmission and distribution, Hydrogen, and asset transition projects. Will is a strong project director and project manager with excellent communication and people management skills and an enthusiasm for new challenges. He works well as part of large multidisciplinary teams and when leading complex environmental projects. His key areas of technical expertise include: • Environmental Impact Assessment • Environmental and Statutory Planning Advice • Feasibility, Options and Route Analysis • Project Management and Direction • Regulator and Stakeholder Engagement • Problem Solving and Innovation • Quality and Delivery He has managed or directed the successful delivery of Environmental Impact Assessments in rural, urban and coastal environments and has worked across a number of sectors including power, oil and gas, industry, waste, transport, infrastructure, residential and social. This has included State Significant Infrastructure and State Significant Development projects in NSW, Part 4 and Part 5 projects and a suite of other EIA projects in Victoria, Queensland and the UK. His commitment to quality, consistency and delivery has allowed him to build, maintain and grow successful client and regulator relationships. He has advised on EIA Guidelines in NSW and the UK and has been an Assessment Director on behalf of NSW Department of Planning for key projects such as the redevelopment of the Sydney Football Stadium.
