Hina Mauka Teen Care, Kailua, HI 2008 – 2011 Outreach Counselor Provided direct services to adolescent population for chemical abuse/dependency, including two individual sessions per week. Performed duties at the local middle school and high school such as screening, assessments, treatment planning, group and individual counseling, case management, prevention education, crisis counseling, discharge planning, continuing peer treatment, and relapse preventions. Collaborated with teachers and principal for student involvement in group/individual sessions. Offered substance abuse education explaining risks associated with use, keeping parents involved despite cultural resistance. Developed curriculum for weekly group sessions to encourage client group discussion and peer sharing.
