About William Peatt

My most recent experience hails from a ME co-op held with Fenn-Torin. There I became extremely proficient at engineering drafting including GD & T and CAD work (modeling/assemblies/design). Fenn-Torin engineers and manufactures highly robust metal forming machines such as spring coilers. After the construction of a machine, my responsibility was to approach the technicians and brainstorm design improvements to implement on future machines, which helped facilitate shorter build times and less expensive machines. This has allowed my understanding of machine design and drafting to expand, building upon the strong foundation of my RIT curriculum. My experience prior to this role was at Safe Flight Instrument Corporation. There my responsibility was to research and develop a brand new electromechanical device for use in future aircraft control column shakers. I was involved in this project from it’s very conception all the way to prototyping and testing, which has taught me how to work on multiple phases of a project in a timely manner. I designed and performed experiments to test my fabricated prototypes to determine if they could meet extremely strict design goals, and documented and presented my findings along the way. Upon visiting my website you will find projects which demonstrate my creativity as a hands-on problem solver stemming from personal, professional, and academic achievements. I have a strong hands on background including fabrication, designing and performing experiments, and rapid prototyping. In addition I have two Greenbelts - DMAIC and DMADV - certifications which exemplify my experience in improving and controlling any engineering process, especially failure analysis, and understanding lean six sigma methodologies. These skills tie in with my polished communication capabilities including group leadership, engineering drafting, technical writing, and fine presentation abilities.
