About William Ray

William Ray is experienced in the operations and maintenance of power generation facilities utilizing a wide array of steam generation and energy conversion configurations fired by natural gas, oil and solid fuels. His strengths are in his interpersonal skills and the ability to resolve complex technical challenges. Ray began his career as Instrumentation and Controls Technician where he maintained all levels of equipment to sustain operation in a "supercritical steam" pressure range gas and oil fired 1300 MW facility. This early experience not only included field components of all types and vintage but also combustion controls and the coordinated control system. He held a lead role in conversion of the analog distributive control systems to digital technology in the early 90’s. Ray continued in this role for 16 years before moving to Technical Specialist in an engineering group where he implemented the predictive maintenance program for the Mississippi region generating fleet by utilizing infrared technology, vibration analysis and motor testing with state of the art equipment. Ray’s career then transitioned to the first of many roles with progressively increasing levels of responsibility in staffing, financials, operation production, maintenance and outage execution across 6 different plant sites in a 3 state region. Ray also held responsibility for the corporation’s power generation fleet safety program for a period of time. He achieved the level of Plant Manager at a combined cycle facility in 2014 and has held that responsibility at 3 sites until retiring in 2021. In 2003 he received his BAAS from Texas A&M University – Texarkana to further complement his extensive list of certifications and course completions. William is currently a Sr. Consultant and the independent owner of William Ray Solutions serving in opportunities to consult with teams on leadership or technical challenges in any industry. His ability to develop relationships with employees at any level to foster trust, engagement and a positive work environment has been recognized by senior leaders throughout his career.
