About William Rose

I am a senior tax executive with over 40 years of technical tax, advisory, financial accounting, and tax risk management experience in the Financial Services industry. Advisor to the Firm’s Private Wealth Management, Institutional Securities and Investment Management businesses, and counselor to senior management on tax strategy, policy, risk, and new legislation. Most recently the Global Head of the Executive Compensation Group at Morgan Stanley. As the head of this group, I have managed an international group of tax attorneys with primary responsibility for the tax planning, structuring and administering of global executive compensation programs, as well as international tax coverage of the Employment Law, Employee Benefits and Human Resources groups across all business lines. Also responsible for the Firm’s compliance with diverse regulatory requirements, such as §§ 409A, 162(m), 457A, 83, etc. I have also been extensively involved with coverage of the Firm’s Private Wealth Management business, and I was the Global Tax Coordinator for the the Information Reporting and Withholding functions Firmwide, with emphasis on §1441, FATCA, and backup withholding and reporting provisions.
