About William Russell

My philosophy is based on the belief that each client has the ability to control his or her own destiny. I believe that each client has the resources to provide their own purpose, direction, and motivation in order to achieve happy and successful lives. I provide evidence-based treatments aimed at solving the client’s problems over stand-alone coping skills. My therapeutic approach includes cognitive and behavioral changes in addition to values based and existential therapies. I earned my Masters of Social Work degree at the University of Utah. I completed an internship at Jordan Valley West, inpatient unit; and, The Salt Lake City Veterans Medical Center, PTSD clinic. I am currently working on my dissertation for PhD, “Conceptualizing and Measuring Military Transition Stress”. I practice using cognitive behavioral, accepetance and commitment, and existential therapies to treat symptoms associated with anxiety, depression, adjustment- and trauma-related issues. I have specialized experience working with adolescents as a family therapist in residential facilities and outpatient clinics, in addition to military, veteran, and first repsonders in outpatient settings. I am professionally certified in cognitive processing therapy (CPT) for trauma. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the State of Utah. I am a member of the National Association of Social Workers (NASW), and the Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies (ABCT).
