About William Spain

I’m an Irish software developer with a passion for secure, scalable cloud microservices. I graduated both my degrees with First-Class Honours: Education- BSc Computer Science & Software Engineering, Maynooth University (First-Class Honours)- MSc Software Solutions Architecture, TU Dublin (First-Class Honours)- Thesis: Performance Analysis of purely functional languages as custom AWS Lambda runtimes What I Do - Build Java/Spring Boot microservices, containerized with Docker & deployed to Kubernetes (Helm, kubectl)- Write clean, well-tested code (JUnit, Mockito)- Design and optimize PostgreSQL schemas for greenfield projects - Serve as my team’s Security Rep, triaging vulnerabilities and CVEs - Technical Document Owner: maintain, review, and approve all updates to the troubleshooting guide for a multi-microservice product - Act as the Microservice Representative for our product on an internal Stack Overflow-style platform used by both internal and external customers. Current Role - Backend Developer, Ericsson - Delivering resilient, cloud-native microservices in a high-security environment.
