Hi, I’m William a creative-turned-entrepreneur with a life and career centered on visual communication. My professional mission is simple: to help businesses get better at creativity, and creatives get better at business. Since 2013, my business, The Sketch Effect, has helped clients make their ideas more understandable, memorable, and actionable through a range of visual communication services, including Graphic Recording, Animation, and Infographics. With over 11 years of experience, a team of 10+ talented graphic recorders, hundreds of animations produced, and thousands of graphic recording sessions completed for the world's top brands, The Sketch Effect has become the premier visual communications provider in the United States. Our esteemed clients include Marriott, Chick-fil-A, Delta Airlines, PwC, Oracle, City of Hope, Accenture, GE, EY, St. Jude’s, and more. My first (but certainly not last) book,"The Conquering Creative: 9 Shifts to Build an Unstoppable Creative Business," was released in 2023. Simply put, it’s a business book for creative people. The reality is that most creatives love to create—but not necessarily handle the "businessy" side of things. However, building a successful creative career or growing a thriving creative business requires mastering fundamental business skills that may not come naturally. This book equips creatives with the tools, insights, and encouragement they need to succeed not just in their craft, but also in the business of their craft."The Conquering Creative" has been recognized as a 2023 Goody Business Book Award Finalist in Business-Career Success, an Amazon Best Seller and "Hot New Release," and earned #1 New Release status in the Entrepreneurship and Vocational Guidance categories. I am also a professional speaker and workshop leader, sharing about visual thinking and visual leadership with audiences across the country. I’ve spoken to corporate teams at Oracle, Chick-fil-A, and UPS, entrepreneurs, and students. My presentation style is highly visual, featuring custom-illustrated decks that reinforce key ideas and keep audiences engaged. And sometimes, I take the stage with a canvas and markers—drawing as I speak!(represented by: Voices to Connect) When I’m not leading The Sketch Effect, writing, or speaking, I can be found hanging with my wife and three little kids, making BBQ, scuba-diving, traveling, and riding my Onewheel GT.
