About Williams Gandy

I am the Southeastern Program Manager and a Biogeographer with North American Land Trust. I work on conservation and mitigation projects during the early stages of land owner communication and coordinate with our mitigation partners to establish land trust based conservation values within the mitigation product. I routinely conduct botanical inventories and author ecological communities descriptions that contribute to the land’s conservation value. As a physical geographer, I approach conservation lands from an earth science perspective. So while vegetation and plant communities provide one lens, I also analyze and describe landforms, their history, an area’s climate, and its surrounding hydrology. I also assist with the management of NALT’s geodatabases and mapping. I previously worked as a stormwater technician for the City of Winston-Salem, North Carolina, measuring stream discharge, sampling for water quality, and inspecting stormwater capture devices. I was a cartographer and a GIS contractor for the Deepwater Horizon oil spill of 2010, providing support for the United States Coast Guard operating out of Louisiana.
