Background

About Wim Manuhutu

As a historian and heritage professional, I focus on investigating, presenting and sharing new and underrepresented sides of history. These histories often have connections with the global process of colonialism and imperialism and the reverberations of both in our societies today. Trying to connect histories is one of my main goals. Being a lecturer at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam offers me the opportunity to engage with students on these topics while working as a crator and advisor with a variety of heritage institutions and communities keeps me grounded in practice and connect academic knowledge to a broader audience. As a moderating public events on history and heritage I see it as my task to create an atmosphere where speakers and public can interact in a safe and productive manner.
