About Winfried Heim

After over 34 years as a practicing OPC-certified Clinical Prosthetist, which included 17 years of management experience, I made the decision to semi-retire from my leadership role as Manager of Prosthetics and Orthotics at West Park Health Care Centre and currently serve as Practice Lead (part time) for the same organization. Prior to joining West Park, I served as Manager of Prosthetics and Pedorthics (foot orthotics, shoe modifications, and custom footwear) at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre for several years and successfully completed their Middle Management Leadership Development Program. A respected and accomplished leader in the field of prosthetics, I have been recognized for my strengths in team leadership and mentorship, problem-solving, professionalism, collaboration and clinical/technical expertise. Even while in management roles, I continued to utilize my hands-on expertise as a clinician, working with patients of all ages and with all levels and types of amputations. I am driven by a passion for excellence in client care and technical fabrication. I graduated from the University of Strathclyde with a Postgraduate Diploma in Lower Limb Prosthetic Biomechanics and a Master of Science in Rehabilitation Studies. I have been involved in various research activities throughout my career and have contributed to numerous publications. I am interested in and open to opportunities that combine my passion for innovation in the field of prosthetics with my interest in ongoing research in technical advancements in patient care.
